EVALUASI RESPON SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH TERHADAP EDUKASI KONSERVASI DAN ZOONOSIS ASAL SATWA LIAR BERBASIS EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Mempersiapkan generasi muda sebagai bagian dari estafet upaya konservasi alam di Indonesia merupakan salah satu aksi misi dari Yayasan Konservasi Alam Yogyakarta-Wildlife Rescue Centre (WRC) Jogja. Melalui edukasi konservasi berkelanjutan, siswa-siwa sekolah menengah di sekitar area baru WRC Jogja didorong untuk mengalami transformasi pola pikir dalam melihat sumber daya alam lokal sebagai kekayaan daerah dan menumbuhkan rasa memiliki terhadap kekhasan sumber daya alam di tanah sendiri. Kami melakukan edukasi konservasi berbasis sumber daya alam lokal selama tiga tahun di sekitar wilayah Banjaroyo, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta dengan metode experiential learning untuk siswa-siswa sekolah menengah dan umum di bawah payung kepramukaan. Analisis respon peserta menunjukkan bahwa siswa sekolah menengah atas dan umum lebih memilih metode dalam kelas yang lebih teoritik dan analitik sedang siswa menengah kejuruan lebih mampu memahami materi edukasi melalui kegiatan praktikal di lapangan. Hal ini memberikan gambaran bahwa edukasi konservasi memang memerlukan pendekatan khusus terhadap partisipan yang menjadi target edukasi dengan mempertimbangkan latar belakang dan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan.
