Project-based learning: roles in developing writing skill of EFL learners
Abstract
Writing in English often becomes problem for EFL learners. Project Based Learning (PjBL) is a teaching method in which allows students to learn actively by engaging the real-world condition from the personally designed projects. Using PjBL in EFL teaching-learning is not uncommon phenomenon, but several problems need to be addressed such as learning techniques and objectives. This research is part of the media development research for developing EFL’s writing skills. Thus, it aims to find out the role of PjBL in developing writing skills on EFL learners. This research employs quantitative descriptive using percentages to analyze the data obtained. The participants were thirty students from the English Department Universitas Negeri Surabaya who programmed the Essential Writing Skills course. The results show that PjBL provably has a role in developing participants' writing skills proved by the analysis which shows the score percentage above 70%. This indicates that PjBL is possibly implemented in teaching writing for EFL learners as it can develop their writing skills.
