Abstract

Sidoarjo regency is located in the administrative area of East Java. As a developed city, the change of climate and land use have made this city does not have adequate green or seepage areas. The implementations of conventional drainage systems that exist today are ineffective to increase the infiltration of water into the ground. Therefore, an ecodrainage system is needed so that most parts of rainwater can seep into the gound and the rest can be fed back into the water bodies.

The analysis included in this study comprises of technical, environmental, and financial aspects. On the technical aspect, the capacities of primary and secondary channels are evaluated. On the environmental aspect, the evaluation is focused on the concept of eco-drainage. Meanwhile, the investment of eco-drainage is evaluated on financial aspect.

Based on the analysis, inundation discharge from the primary channels are 188.49 m3/sec, while from the secondary channels are 84.06 m3/sec. From the total of 131 channels in Sidoarjo, there are 24 channels are not able to accommodate the discharge. To resolve these problems, there are many kind of alternative solutions. The first one is by using porous drainage.
