INNOVATION OF FERMENTED FEEDING BASED ON WASTE SLUDGE COCONUT AS LOW KOLESTEROL DUCK FEEDING
Abstract
The cost of producing livestock from Feed reaches 60-70%. It is worth looking for more economically efficient alternative feed components in improving livestock performance. Local feed ingredients of agricultural waste that can be used as alternative feed material that is waste sludge coconut.  The waste sludge coconut has a high crude protein content of 23% and easily digestible phytosterols. The research aim to make a low cholesterol duck feed formulation derived from the waste sludge coconut fermented Aspegillus niger as a substitution of concentrate. The research method was experimental with Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of 4 treatments with 4 replication. The treatment was the percentage of coconut sludge at concentrate substitution that are R0 0%, R1 10%, R2 15%, and R3 20%. Data  analyzed ANOVA and if there was any difference between the treatments was done further test with the least significant difference test (BNT).  Observed variables are feed consumption, weight gain and cholesterol meat level. The results was the substitution of waste sludge coconut fermented Aspergillus niger did not give significant effect (p˃0.05) on feed consumption but significantly (p˂0.05) on body weight and meat cholesterol level. The mean of feed consumption is R0 = 539,27 gr, R1 = 541,69 , R2 = 540,0 , and R3 = 541,84 .The average of body weight gain R0 = 513,5a, R1 = 528,8b, R2 = 471,7a, and R3 = 462,8a and the average of duck meat cholesterol is R0 = 100a, R1 = 90,4b, R2 = 124,6a and R3 = 128,7a. The conclusion of this study is the substitution of concentrate fermented waste sludge coconut 10% giving the best weight gain and the lowest meat cholesterol.Keywords : Waste feeding, Coconut sludge, Fermentation, Duck, CholesterolPublished
