EFFECTIVENESS OF LEAVE SIRSAK EXTRACT (Annona muricata) AND MIMBA (Azadirachta indica) as HERBAL INSECTICIDE IN CATTLE INFECTED BY BLOOD SUCKER FLY (Haematobia exigua)

Abstract

The threat from Haematobia exiguae (a sucker blood cattle fly)) in farms still considered as a main disturbance especially for traditional farmers. Local wisdom practice to handle cattle-flies is by maximizing bioinsecticides potential of Sirsak leaves and Mimba leaves. This research aims to test the effectivity of combination of Daun Sirsak extract (EDS) and Daun Mimba Ekstract (EDM) as a herbal insectictides to cattle infected by Haematobia Exiguae. Material used are 12 female cattles aged 2.5 years weighted 340-350 kg. Research method used is Completely Randomized Design. Treatment is 3 combination of mixture of EDS and EDM with 1 control. P0 = control; P1 = 10 ml EDS + 5 ml EDM + 85 ml aquadest, P2 = 20 ml EDS + 10 ml EDM + 70 AQ and P3 = 30 ml EDS + 15 ml EDM + 55 AQ. Each treatment is repeated up to 4 times. Data analysed by ANOVA method, if differences occurred in each treatment will be continued by BNT. Observed variables are the amount of flies 5 minutes after wounds sprayed by the mixture, decreased size of the wound, and increasing weight of cattles. The mean of decreased size of the wounds is listed as follows: Decreased of Wounds P0= 5,7ᶜ, P1= 4,8ᵇ, P2= 3,6ᵃ, and P3= 4,9ᵇ. The reduction of flies is P0= 7ᶜ, P1= 4ᵇ, P2= 3ᵃ, P3= 6ᵇ and increasing weight of cattles is P0=344ᵇ, P1=341ᶜ, P2=345ᵃ, P3= 339ᶜ. This research finds that the best combination of EDM and ESM is 20ml EDS+ 10 ml EDM + 70 ml AQ.
