Abstract

Plumeria rubra has been studied as a species of plants that contain some secondary metabolites inducing anticancer. The metabolites had been identified previously from the plants being from many areas. Different areas have different soil content influencing the accumulation of secondary metabolites in plants. This study identified the secondary metabolites that  were contained in stem bark of P. rubra L. found in East Java. The bark were extracted in ethanol, then the result was analyzed using LCMS apparatus. The results showed that stem bark of P. rubra L. contained  42 metabolites. These were different from the compounds previously found. The types of metabolite were less than the previous ones. However, most of them had capability as anticancer. It means that the stem bark extract of P. rubra L., being from East Java was more potent to be anticancer agent compared with the extract of the plants being from other areas and previously identified.
