Social Change At Coffee Farmers Intercropping Pepper In Jember District
Abstract
Changes in cropping patterns, from what was originally monoculture to intercropping caused changes in the social life of coffee farmers. The purpose of this study is to analyze the social changes that occur due to the innovation that entered in the Village Pace Silo District Jember, the innovation is to intercropping coffee with pepper. The design of this research is descriptive qualitative with research location in Pace Village Silo Sub-district Jember Regency. This study produced a description of the changes that occurred in coffee farmers who intercropped coffee with pepper. The change that is happening is a change that leads to progress where it can increase the income and welfare of farmers. Besides change also happened to characteristic of farmers, social capital and farmer institution. All of these changes have a positive impact on people's lives.
