Fecundity and Kidding Weight resulting from Superovulation in the Does of Anggora Rabbit

Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare the responses of rabbit Angora does that were superovulated and without superovulation, seen from the number of kids per birth and the kidding weight. The research method was an experiment by treating the PMSG and HSG hormones for does which were superovulated with 5 replications. Data analysis with unpaired t-test. The results showed that superovulation had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on fecundity and birth weight. The fecundity of the superovulation treatment (8.40 + 1.14 heads) was higher than the control (5.20 + 1.34 heads), while the kidding weight of the superovulation treatment (51.40 + 4.30 g) was lower than the control (60.10 + 1.75 g). The conclusion of this study was that superovulation treatment increased maternal fecundity by 61.53% and reduced kidding weight by 14.47%.
