Abstract

The progress of a nation depends on the quality of its human resources. As a developing country, Indonesia relies on young generation as nation assets to be nurtured and guided to be excellent members of society who take roles in nation progress in the future. In terms of mental capacity, college students are considered as the most ready members of society to accept and develop character building. Moreover,  students are future generation and young scholars who contribute on the development of a nation. However, behind all those optimism there are many problems that show the decrease in the quality of students who will take the lead in the future. The loss of critical thinking and problem solving skills of students is in line with the widespread development of hedonism, individualism and passive attitude towards social and radicalism issues among students. Based on the description above, the purpose of this study was to build character building based on the ideology of Pancasila for youth especially college students as the future leaders.   Building leadership character can be done through student organizations. Student Association (ORMAWA) is a collegian organization in which the students are guided for their personal development in order to build the leadership character. One of ORMAWA which has been well-acknowledged is Muslim Students Organization. It has proven as a succesfull students organization  by successfully producing leaders and national figures. It is one of the oldest ORMAWA in Indonesia which still exists today, known as a great organization which provides alumni corps called Korps Alumni Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (KAHMI).
