ISLAM DAN PLURALITAS BUDAYA NUSANTARA

Abstract

This paper discusses the lively Islamic archipelago in recent years. The entry of Islam into the archipelago was confronted with a completely different form of the archipelago with the birthplace and the first Islamic growth of the Arab country. Islam born in Indonesia is influenced by multicultural custom and culture, where most of Indonesian people want to practice Islam but are reluctant to leave their culture. it makes syncretic dialogue and relationship between Islam and local culture. Various thoughts seek to formulate how Islam can adapt to the local culture without leaving the monotheism and other ushuliyah teachings. Amin Abdullah said that it takes a fresh ijtihad to deal with contemporary problems, it will not be enough just to repeat the past experience without looking at local developments. Said Aqil Siradj made the method of tawazun, i'tidal and tawasuth as a method to find the intersection of the diversity. While Abd. Muqsith Gozali offers the method mashlahah mursalah, istihsan and 'urf for the teachings of Islam can be combined with the culture of the archipelago. From the interaction of Islam and the culture of the archipelago to produce a unique Islamic civilization of the archipelago, for example the style of Muslim Nusantara, the architecture of the temples of worship Nusantara, the cultural form of interaction among religious communities such as Siwalima in Maluku and North Maluku, the combination of language raises jawi script or pegon. Plurality and diversity are things that must be addressed in the right way and method, not avoided and shunned. Willingness to interact between Religion and Culture will produce hybrid civilization is Islamic civilization archipelago.
