THE PARADIGM OF MULTICULTURALISM AS FONDATION OF ISLAMIC CURRICULUMDEVELOPMENT IN REALIZING PEACE AMONG PLURAL SOCIETY

ABSTRACT

Indonesia consists of a large number of ethnic groups, cultures, religions, etc., so that the Indonesian nation-state can simply be called a multicultural society. One indicator is the number of Religions where Islam as the majority religion. The current population census, 87% of Indonesians are Muslim, 13% non-Muslims. When compared to Malaysia, 13% more than the entire population of Malaysia. But Islam as a majority canot yet be a pioneer of peace in pluralism. This is evidenced, compared to 2015, the number of violations of Religious Freedom and Trust in 2016 increased 7%. In 2016, there were 204 events with 313 acts of KBB violation. While 2015, 190 events with 249 acts of infringement. As a majority, Muslims should be able to survive and protect minorities. This is where the multiculturalism paradigm becomes important to be integrated in the principles of developing the PAI curriculum so that formal, informal, informal Islamic education institutions can produce healthy multicultural societies and become peace pioneers among religious communities. Substantively, multicultural values ​​are found in several verses of the Qur'an. QS. Ali Imran 3:64 emphasizes dialogue so that the potential for mutual understanding among religious communities is awakened. QS. Al-Hujurat 49:13, contains at least three principles concerning living in diversity and diversity, plural is common, equal is common, modesty in diversity. These verses of the Qur'an become the religious principles of curriculum development. Then the philosophical principle, ontologically; multicultural education is a way of teaching diversity, epistemological; this curriculum can be developed with a separated curriculum or integrated curriculum model, axiological; with this kind of education we want the learner to grow in a world free of prejudice, bias and discrimination in whatever name.
