Redefining Global Peace through Understanding Religious Pluralism and Tolerance

The world today is set to face a new realities. For instance, in the aftermath of Cold War or Capitalist-Communist rivalry, economy hegemony, and clash of civilizations, it has been breaking a new mode of the so called “intra or inter religions conflict. The fall of such prominent leaders as Saddam Hussein, Mohammad Hosni Mubarak, Hafez Assad, and Moammar Ghaddafi led to the emergence of civil war in the regions, which, to a certain degree, is regarded as an intra-religion conflict. This trend spreads to the neighboring country of Yemen, but even to the other country, that is to Myanmar. It might be crossing wider in the long run when no efforts are made to prevent such phenomenon.

Religion seems to be no longer comes as a source of peace, but rather as a source of conflict.

This paper discusses the theory of Religious Pluralism to promote, and establish harmonious life across the nations, colors, races, ethnics, and cultures. It attempts to understand and respect diversity, recognizes various conceptions of one ultimate mysterious divine reality.

Neo-modernism approach and literary analysis in depth were used to examine the theory of Religious Pluralism and Tolerance.

The results of the research indicate understanding religious pluralism and tolerance, recognizing no absolute truth, and accepting diversity are fundamental elements to create global peace and respect humanity.
