PENDIDIKAN DEMOKRASI MULTIKULTURAL DALAM PERSPEKTIF KH. ABDURAHMAN WAHID (Sebuah Tawaran untuk Mewujudkan Demokrasi di Indonesia yang Harmonis)

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest multicultural countries in the world. This diversity is reflected in various languages, cultures, and religions and beliefs such as Islam, Catholicism, Protestant Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and various beliefs. This variety of languages, cultures and religions, in addition to being a wealth, can also be a source of conflict, if not properly viewed, culture and religion tend to become fanatical in their own culture or religion and forget the unity of this nation. Attitudes of fanaticism tend to exist in a closed social society, this is because people who tend to be static or applying stratification to society is closed. It is possible that the conflict will occur because of differences in society in Indonesia through the head of the district / city, provincial or presidential election due to the exclusion of the exclusive society. However, efforts to continuously maintain the harmonious diversity continues between the application of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid teaching on the education of Multicultural Democracy. Among Gus Dur's ideas on multicultural democracy education are the defense of minorities, equality, justice, deliberation, freedom, and rule of law.
