KH Saifuddin Zuhri: Ulama cum Negarawan (Mengharmoniskan Paham Keagamaan dan Kebangsaan)

Abstract

The nationality and religion entity (islam) today is happening friction. This phenomenon, increasingly confirms that as if religion and the State is very difficult to be an integrative entity. Islam as a religion feels criminalized, even oppressed. However on the other hand, the government as the state organizers also feel the rebellion of religious groups. This ironic reality, increasingly tapered because it is ridden by political interests that claim to freedom of opinion in the realm of democration. Thus, through this paper the author will examine the view of a scholar who became a representation of Islamic scholarship, in his perspective of the right nasionalism applied in a State, as well as not clashing with the ideology (read: Islam). Through a multi-perspective reading, this study will describe the builder elements constructing an entity called Nationalism. Thus, there will be anatomical anatomy which can be an inspiration for the development of a State supported by universal values in religion.
