THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC ECONOMIC EDUCATION IN INDONESIAN ECONOMY

Abstract

Islamic countries have great economic potential in the world. The current fundamental problem is the lack of human resources that have mastery of Islamic-based economics, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. Islamic economic education is not only about banking but also includes morals and Islamic value system. Therefore, Islamic economic education plays an important role. This paper discusses the role of Islamic economic education in the Indonesian economy. The approach used is literature study. The results show that Islamic countries have tremendous tangible resources such as petroleum, grains, and meat as food, and steel for industrialization. In addition, Islamic countries also have great intangible resources such as educated human resources, organizations or networks and information which are very important in building the economy. Islamic economics is the study of human effort to allocate and manage resources to achieve al-falah based on the principles and values ​​of the Qur'an & Sunnah. However, globalization brings challenges to Islamic education in some ways, including economic integrity, political fragmentation, and new cultural colonization.
