Although character education based on Islamic values has been educated, the reality is that radical and extreme understanding is still developing in Indonesian society. Various cases of intolerance such as the destruction of worship places, the dissolution of religious teaching, and bullying indicate that Islamic values internalized through character education have not been able to be fully interpreted (kaffah) by some communities. Therefore, character education in Indonesia needs to pay attention to the importance of internalization of local cultural wisdom values in forming moderate characters. This research will discuss how the internalization of Islamic values of the archipelago in forming a moderate character. This research method uses qualitative approach with the type of research of library research. The results showed that the Islamic values of the archipelago that internalized through character education can be well received by all people because it is in line with the Indonesian context, in addition, it is also able to form a moderate character.
