Abstract

This study discusses how the use of artificial intelligence (AI) affects the way of thinking of Arabic Language Education (PBA) students and triggers cognitive transformation in the learning process. This focus is important because changes in the digital ecosystem require students to not only understand Arabic materials, but also develop critical thinking skills in interacting with technology. This research places itself in the study of technology-based Arabic language learning, as well as filling the research gap regarding students' cognitive changes in the AI era. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data was obtained through observation of the use of AI, in-depth interviews, and document analysis related to student interactions with platforms such as ChatGPT, TalkPal, and Gemini. The results show that AI drives a cognitive shift from memorization to analysis, from lecturer-centered learning to AI-based assistive learning, as well as from analog mindsets to digital cognition. This transformation is influenced by the level of AI literacy, student epistemic readiness, support of the academic environment, and the availability of digital infrastructure. This research contributes to the understanding of the role of AI as a catalyst for cognitive change and provides the basis for the development of more adaptive Arabic language learning curricula and practices in the era of artificial intelligence.
