English For Biology Education Department Students: A Need Analysis on ESP Learners

Abstract

This research aims to dig deeper into the analysis of Biology department students' needs in English learning. This research also analyzes the differences in English learning needs between female and male students. This research was conducted using the mixed method which involves the fourth semester of Biology Education Department Students as the participants. The analysis of this research is divided into three: Present Situation Analysis, Target Situation Analysis, and Learning Needs. The data for this research was collected using a questionnaire and an interview. The result shows that Biology Department Students need pronunciation as the most important language component and listening skills as the most important language skill. However, male students tend to listening, while female students prefer reading as their learning style.
