Shadowing: An Alternative Learning Activity in Developing EFL Learners’ Listening Skill

Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine if using Shadowing Technique effectively improved the listening skill of EFL leaners. This research was conducted in an English class of senior high school. Quasi-experimental research design was emplyed with two groups as the sample of the research - experimental and control groups. The data were collected by admisterning pre-test and post test. The mean score of the pre-test for the experimental group is 54.68, while the mean score of the post test is 76.45. The mean score of the pre-test for the control group is 58.33 and the mean score of post test is 70.50.  The data analysis test results show that emplying Shadowing Technique is effective in developing EFL learners’ listening skill.
